Empire of Storms
by Sarah J. Maas
"Enormous, romantic, devastating. The high point of the whole series."
Review last updated:
Empire of Storms is Maas writing at full power. The scale is huge — armies, sea battles, gods, an entire continent on the brink — and yet the book never loses the small human moments.
The Aelin and Rowan romance finally gets its due. Elide and Lorcan are unexpectedly the best thread in the book. Manon's arc reaches a place I did not see coming. And the ending is one of the cruellest, most effective final chapters I have read in fantasy.
Five stars. Have Kingdom of Ash physically in the room before you finish this one.
