Most recommendation lists tell you what was popular last year. They do not know that you want slow burn but not spice, or a twist but not gore.
A good quiz asks about the things that actually decide whether you finish a book:

How your answers are scored
Behind the friendly buttons there is a small matching engine. Here is what it does with each answer, in plain terms:

Five ways to get a better match
- Pick tropes you reread, not tropes you admire. Enemies to lovers is the most honest answer most of us give.
- Be truthful about spice. Choosing "dark" when you mean "a bit tense" will send you somewhere uncomfortable.
- Answer for the week you are actually having. A slow literary read in a busy week becomes a reading slump.
- Retake it for gifts. Answer as the person you are buying for and you have a genuinely thoughtful present.
- Change one answer at a time. That is the fastest way to see the shelf from a different angle.
