Ana Huang opens the Twisted series with the grumpy-sunshine pairing that made the whole quartet a phenomenon. Alex Volkov is glacial, calculating and quietly obsessive; Ava Chen is warm, curious and far more perceptive than he expects. Watching her thaw him is the entire pleasure of the book.

## What works

- The brother's-best-friend setup gives every scene built-in tension.
- Alex's revenge arc gives the romance real stakes instead of manufactured drama.
- Ava's photography and her fragmented memories add a soft, dreamy counterweight to the darker plot.

## What to know going in

This is contemporary romance with a possessive hero, some suspense in the back half, and open-door spice. If you want slow burn with a genuine grovel, you are in the right place.

## Who I'd hand it to

Anyone who loved the emotional whiplash of a cold hero learning to be soft for exactly one person. Start here and read the series in order.
