## Why a book quiz beats scrolling for an hour

Most recommendation lists tell you what was popular last year. They do not know that you want slow burn but not spice, or a twist but not gore.

A good quiz asks about the things that actually decide whether you finish a book:

- the **world** you want to fall into
- your **spice comfort zone**
- the **pace** of the night you have planned
- the **tropes** that hook you every single time
- whether you want a standalone or a whole series

That is what this one does. Nothing is scored on vibes alone — each answer either filters books out or boosts them up.

## How your answers are scored

Behind the friendly buttons there is a small matching engine. Here is what it does with each answer, in plain terms:

| Your answer | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Blind date or you pick | Decides which parcel style you are recommended |
| Your world | A hard filter — nothing outside it can win |
| Spice level | Removes anything outside your comfort zone |
| Reading pace | Boosts page-turners or slow, atmospheric reads |
| Tropes (up to three) | The strongest signal in the whole quiz |
| Standalone or series | Tips the result toward one book or a full world |
| Budget | Sets pre-loved or brand new pricing |

Your match then shows a percentage and the specific reasons it was chosen, such as the tropes it hits and the rating I gave it.

## What happens after your result

## Five ways to get a better match

1. **Pick tropes you reread, not tropes you admire.** Enemies to lovers is the most honest answer most of us give.
2. **Be truthful about spice.** Choosing "dark" when you mean "a bit tense" will send you somewhere uncomfortable.
3. **Answer for the week you are actually having.** A slow literary read in a busy week becomes a reading slump.
4. **Retake it for gifts.** Answer as the person you are buying for and you have a genuinely thoughtful present.
5. **Change one answer at a time.** That is the fastest way to see the shelf from a different angle.
