# Leaves, Lattes, and Literary Treasures: My Autumn Wishlist

Cozy blankets, fluffy socks, favorite loungewear and a breathtaking read... yes, please!

Category: Reading Diary

Can you feel it? That subtle shift in the breeze, the way the late afternoon sun casts longer shadows through the kitchen window? Some would say it's the earth exhaling after a long summer’s breath. And for me, that gentle exhale ushers in my very favorite reading season.

While I adore the sun-drenched pages of a summer paperback, there’s something truly magical about snuggling down as the leaves outside begin their spectacular transformation. A warm mug cradled in my hands, a soft blanket draped just so, and the promise of a brand new, undiscovered world waiting between the covers. Oh, it’s simply heavenly.

This year, as the scent of woodsmoke promises to mingle with fallen leaves, my anticipation is practically buzzing for some truly exciting fantasy releases. My little reading nook, with its soft lamplight and overflowing shelves, is already primed and ready.

First up, I've marked my calendar for Danielle L. Jensen’s Defy the Dusk. I am yet to devour the first two books in the Bridge Kingdom series, as I prefer to enter a world richly imagined and complete. The thought of it sends a little shiver of excitement down my spine. I'm picturing myself lost in this series, the scent of a brewing Barry's tea wafting through the air. It promises to be a thrilling dive.

Then there’s Laurell K. Hamilton’s 'A Glimmer of Death.' Now, I know some folks might raise an eyebrow, but there’s a certain gritty charm to the Anita Blake series that just works for me. It’s like a guilty pleasure, but one I’m not ashamed of. Hamilton builds these sprawling, complex supernatural communities, and while the plots can be... eventful, I’m always drawn back to Anita’s sheer resilience and the ever-evolving world she navigates. This one feels like a perfect stormy afternoon read, perhaps with a cup of robust black coffee to keep me company through the darker twists and turns.

And finally, a new voice I’m incredibly eager to explore: A. T. Emerald’s 'Under the Iron Sky'. This one’s been on my radar since I first saw the cover – dark, intriguing, with just a hint of ancient mystery. I haven't read anything by Emerald yet, but the premise of a world touched by forgotten magic and looming shadows has completely captured my imagination. I love finding debut authors who breathe new life into familiar fantasy tropes, and I have a good feeling about this one. I envision settling into my coziest armchair, a soft wool blanket tucked around my legs, and a Joey's gentle piano music murmuring in the background as I let this new story unfold. It feels like the kind of book that demands quiet contemplation and a slow, savoring read.

The beauty of autumn reading, for me, isn't just the books themselves, but the whole ritual around it. The way the light changes, the subtle crispness in the air that makes hot beverages taste even better, the permission to slow down. So, tell me, friends, what wonders are you hoping to unwrap this autumn? My TBR pile is always eager for new companions!
